DIY-Kids Reward Punch Cards

With the school year just days away I know that there will have to be some sort of routine started again. Summer lazy mornings will soon come to an end - blah! I know that I will need my children to help out to make things go a little more smoothly in the morning and at night.

To make this fun for them I decided to make them reward punch cards. So far I have them designed for brush your teeth, pick up bedrooms(toys), and finish homework. The last is more for my son but, my 3 year old daughter is way too excited not to have any preschool homework. I may just have to fudge that a bit. Both kids love shoving "pretend" plastic cards in their wallets so I thought this would be fun for them. Plus they get to punch a hole in the card - bonus for them! I plan on having them printed for each school week within each month. If they have all the holes punched(with my supervison of course) they will get one surprise small trip at the end of the month. ei: to the kids museum; inflatable funlands, and etc...

This has gotta work! If not with my kids at least I will get to share them with YOU. To print them for a boy go here. For a girl go here. It's best to print them on heavy card stock.

Here's to wishful carefree school mornings and nights!

Back to School

In one week I will be sending my son Leyton off to kindergarten. I know I will still be a wreck even though he did go to 4k last year which was for 1/2 day 5x a week. There's just something about him now going a full day that is so hard to take in. Perhaps because for the next 13+ years he will be doing the same thing. I've been so lucky to be able to be home during the week for a great majority of his life. My daughter Maddie will be attending 3 year old preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 2-1/2 hrs. That is also crazy to think about! She is ready for that and asks almost every day if she can go to school yet. Is that a girl thing?

Here are some back to school finds that I'm hearting...

1. Dabbawalla back packs - isn't this adorable?
2. Nix Baby socks - love the bright colors.
3. Waste Not Saks reusable cloth snack bags
4. Oshkosh B'gosh clothing
5. Goodbyns lunch boxes - you gotta check these out. They are not only adorable but, are a green product. Even the stickers used to decorate them are printed with vegetable based inks.
6. Graphic shirts - GapKids

Off to Cincinnati

I haven't posted on my new blog yet that my husband is a tennis pro. Yep, sometimes it seems as if we live and breath it in our house. Nay...it's not to prominent but, it does get it's share of recognition. My son loves the game so he is totally following into his Dads footsteps. Tonight my husband and I are traveling to Cincinnati to the Western & Southern Financial Group tennis tournaments. My husband just called me and is super pumped that his favorite player, Lleyton Hewitt will be playing against the all #1 world great Roger Federer. I'm glad his adrenalin is flowing because he( like how I state that)is driving 8 hrs. through the night to get there. Hello energy drinks and coffee!!!

Cardboard Chair

Okay...How fun and cleaver is this? This chair is 2 feet tall and can hold up to 200lbs. The kids can decorate it anyway they'd like. Seriously, have you ever let your children play with a good sized cardboard box? Hours of fun! Think the "Go Green" episode of Jon and Kate +8. Last month our neighbors had a huge box in their garage and their daughter and my kids seriously spent a good hour playing with it. Anywho- I spotted this here and you can enter a chance to win one.

This is a hot new site I've been seeing in the last few days amongst many craft blog sites. It just went live early this week. I'm so excited about Craftig since anyone that has any DIY projects can sign up and submit. I may just have to jump on this opportunity. Very cool stuff from so many talented people. So go ahead and take a look. Print off cool freebies and start crafting.

Have a great weekend!

Okay I know his things are everywhere but, it's so refreshing to look at his designs for inspiration. I just love all the different patterns and bold colors he uses. These melanine plates just show the variation he can do. Lovely!

Time to Get Organized

I can't believe it's August already and with that school is just right around the corner. I just know for this school year that I'll have to be even more organized with my son being in all day Kindergarten and my daughter attending 3 year old preschool 2x a week. I couldn't believe all the papers my son brought home last year attending 4k for 1/2 days. I know this year will most likely be doubled that. I want(need) too be on top of things for this upcoming school year. When I saw these pretty mod file totes here I knew that I will be needing one or two. Love them!

Then I spotted this planner by Laural Denise on this blog site and knew right away that this was "the" planner for me.. You can buy it on Overstock for $13.50
